How can a mixture be separated? Part 2

We had a second mixture of sand, salt and iron filings to separate.  We all had to think about the properties of each part in the mixture so we could separate them.

Here is what we tried...

Why are you rubbing the balloon on your head?

You too Andre?

Wow!  The iron is attracted to a magnet so we could pull it out of the mixture!

The magnet at work!

How did you get the salt on the balloon?

Now I get it, you created static to attract the salt!

The mixture before we actually mixed the parts together!

Just love your concentration Lil!
