STAR Students!

I am late with last weeks star students but they deserve to be posted!  Briley and Ife work hard everyday and they earned the title last Friday!  Congrats and keep up your hard work!

Division with Models and Our Galaxy!

We have been using place value blocks to solve division problems.  We are all getting so good at seeing the problems that we no longer need the actual blocks!  In Science we have finished our Planets and Galaxy study.  We had a chance to vaporize an asteroid (using Alka Seltzer and water) and we made 2 and 3 dimensional models of our Solar System.  We learned the difference between inner and outer planets, what exists in a galaxy and even learned about the 169 moons in our solar system.

Innner Planets and Outer Planets

Today we discussed inner and outer planets and the differences.  We had a chance to make a model of the planets on paper.  This gave us a chance to see the difference in size.  The 4 inner planets are much smaller than the outer planets.  We will continue to find the differences in the planets over the next few days.

Star Students!

Congratulations to our Star Students!  Big Red and Piper have worked so hard this week to take care of all their classwork, homework and stay involved at recess.  They are both beyond the current reading goal and continue to work hard!  Awesome Job!!!

STAR Student!!!

Congrats to Andre and Shanley for working hard this week and earning the title of Star Student! They both have been taking care of their business in both classrooms and staying busy with school work!  They are reading and making sure to get all of their work done while always being kind to everyone around them! Keep it up guys!

Reading Celebration and JJ!!!!!!

We had our first flag raising ceremony and had fun meeting JJ!  We kicked off our reading celebration and got to give JJ some books for his trip.  He left today in his RV full of books and he will be back when we meet our reading goal for this year!  Thanks for stopping by JJ!

Math and Science with Computers and books!

We spent a little time exploring Manga High, one of our favorite new math websites.  We all have our own passwords and assignments to access at school or at home.  We also started to explore several nonfiction books to discover new facts about our galaxy!  We were able to discuss text features using our books and they happen to be in AR too!

We are having so much fun and we are only getting started!
