Open House is scheduled for Thursday August 30, at 6:30 P.M. Please...if possible,  leave students at home.  This is an opportunity for Mr. Gibbons and Mrs. Goodman to talk to parents about what is expected of students, parents, and teachers.  This night is set aside to discuss general practices and procedures of Rooms 71 and 73 that pertain to ALL students.  If you would like to discuss your individual child, there will be an opportunity to set up a conference.  We look forward to meeting ALL of the Ape Parents!!

 

Great Math and Science!

We had so much fun investigating how scientists measure volume and working on multiplication.  We even had a chance to play the Product Game as a group.  We are having such a great start to a great year of learning!

What an amazing week!

We had a great week!  Today we discussed how scientists measure length and we actually practiced that skill!  We had fun on the basketball court this entire week and we are actually looking like we understand the game already!  We will keep working!  We are learning to work as groups and with partners in math and science which will help us on the court too!  I can already see this is going to be a great year!

What a wonderful day of math and science!

We are reviewing some of our multiplication strategies from 4th grade to get our math brains back in gear!  I am so happy to see some great strategies and I see students learning from each other!  This is what math workshop is all about!  We all learned a new way to multiply 26 X 35 after visualizing our story problem.

Science time was great today as well.  We began discussing how scientists investigate by starting with the questions they ask.  As a team we discussed given questions to decide if it was a scientific question or not!  We had some good discussions, I am happy to see such great cooperative learning already!

Our classrooms are almost ready for the fun to begin.  I hope you have all had a great summer and can't wait to get back to school.  We have been working hard to start another great year with the Apes!  Also helping get off to a great start is our wonderful PTA!  Thanks for the breakfast and for all of your support!
